Sabha at Uttaradimutt
I understand that there was a "Sabha" conducted at Uttaradimutt, Bangalore recently at the behest of His Holiness Sri. Satyaatma Theertha Swamiji wherein the pundits of the Mutt had tough time in discussing/ arguing over some matter with Sri. Mani Dravid Sastrigal, a well known Advaita scholor, and the discussion ended without any conclusion on the matter. I would like to know the facts and the subject matter discussed in the said Sabha. I am surprised to hear this because the madhwa pundits of uttaradimutt are good at Vyakarana /Tarka. I am sure the topic discussed may not be directly related to works of Sri. Madhvacharya or the topics of Vedas, puranas etc., Can anybody throw more light on this subject

Namaste. I think it was a discussion concerning the 'apaccheda nyAya' of the pUrvamImAmsA shAstra. Advaitins hold that this nyAya is favourable to conclude that 'the pratyakSha pramANa that operates initially in a person's life is contradicted by the later-invoked shruti pramANa which is prabala.' This matter has been discussed in the Advaita siddhi-nyAyAmRta dialectics. Apparently Dr.Mani Dravid Sastrigal has pointed out a flaw in the Dvaitins' handling of this issue and it has not yet been replied satisfactorily by the latter. The Uttaradimutt discussion was on this issue.
